About

Rupantor is a gardening program designed to empower individuals with disabilities in the Northwest region of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh

In Bangladesh disability is a complex challenge influenced by social, economic and cultural factors. People with disabilities face barriers in education, employment, healthcare and social services. Rupantor seeks to play a part in recognising and addressing these issues.

The Rupantor Project is part of the LAMB Project and based on the LAMB Hospital Compound.  Lutheran Aid for Medicine in Bangladesh (LAMB) is an NGO that works to improve the health of the poor in Northwest Bangladesh. The main site is located in Dinajpur District, and the services include a 100-bed hospital, a health-focused training centre, a rehabilitation centre for disabled children and an integrated health and community development program (CHDP). In addition, LAMB runs several community projects that mainly focus on maternal and child health, and adolescent reproductive health and disability services. The rehabilitation centre at LAMB was started in 1994 and offers therapy for children with conditions such as cerebral palsy, developmental delay and muscular dystrophy.
