1996 trug Yeacub\u2018s Mutter ihren 12-j\u00e4hrigen Jungen auf dem R\u00fccken ins Rehab-Zentrum. Er war gro\u00df und schwer, und sie konnte ihn nur mit gro\u00dfer M\u00fche tragen. Sie legte ihn auf den Boden und sagte unseren Physiotherapeuten, dass er viele spastische Bewegungen macht, die er nicht kontrollieren kann. and heavy for her to carry, and she laid him on the floor and told our Rehab staff that he can <\/span>do nothing.<\/span><\/p>

Unsere Physiotherapeuten erkannten, dass der Junge eine spastische Zerebralparese hat. Sie zeigten seiner Mutter, wie sie ihn aufzurichten und wie sie ihm essen eingeben konnte. Die Lamb-Werkstatt baute f\u00fcr ihn einen Stuhl mit Gurten zur Fixierung. Diese Gurten mussten aber immer wieder ersetzt werden, weil sie durch seine ruckartigen Bewegungen rissen. \nMit der Zeit lernte Yeacub seine H\u00e4nde nach vorne zu bringen, und seine Armbewegungen besser zu kontrollieren. Durch weitere \u00dcbungen und Physiotherapie verbesserte sich seine Balance im Sitzen. Unsere Werkstatt baute einen niedrigen Rollstuhl, mit dem er sich selbst fortbewegen konnte. Yeaqub besuchte einen Geb\u00e4rdenkurs und kann sich heute recht gut mitteilen. Er ist intelligent und versteht Zusammenh\u00e4nge sehr schnell. <\/span>Palsy and helped Yeaqub\u2019s Mother to sit him up. The Lamb workshop made him a chair <\/span>which he learnt to sit in but because he moved so much the safety belts holding would<\/span> often brake and needed replacing. However, the chair helped Yaqoub bring his <\/span>hands forward where he could see them instead of being held out to the side and he <\/span>gradually learnt to control the movement in his arms. Our physiotherapists taught his mother <\/span>to sit on the floor behind Yaqoub, place a large bowl of rice in front of him and hand over <\/span>hand help him to pick up some rice and bring it to his mouth. At first the rice went everywhere <\/span>but slowly, slowly he learnt how to feed himself with rice and bread. Drinking water is still <\/span>difficult even today. Then slowly with our help, Yacoub\u2019s Mother taught him how to dress <\/span>himself and he learnt how to move himself about the floor by bottom shuffling. His sitting <\/span>balance continued to improve, and the workshop made him a low trolley\/wheelchair which he<\/span><\/p>\n

learnt to self-propel. Today he is independently mobile! Yeaqub could not speak but together with three others he attended a sign language class. Today he can easily communicate with<\/span><\/p>\n

everyone using signs. He is very bright.<\/p>\n

 Seine Familie hat ihr Haus behindertengerecht umgebaut. Yeacub kann sich frei bewegen und hat Zugang zu allen Zimmern. Er kann sich selbst anziehen und auf die Toilette gehen. Er hat gute Freunde gefunden, darunter auch den Rikscha Fahrer, den ihn jeden Tag zur Arbeit bringt. Yeaqub ist heute 38 Jahre alt und seine F\u00e4higkeiten haben sich weiter verbessert. Durch die regelm\u00e4\u00dfige k\u00f6rperliche Arbeit wurden seine geschw\u00e4chten Arme und Beine gest\u00e4rkt und seine Mobilit\u00e4t hat sich weiter verbessert. \nEr ist sehr motiviert und kommt eine volle Stunde zu fr\u00fch zur Arbeit. Er tr\u00e4umt davon, eines Tages einen kleinen Laden zu f\u00fchren. Er nutzt ein Mobiltelefon und die Menschen in seinem Dorf m\u00f6gen ihn. <\/span>is fully independent in his self-care of eating, toileting, washing and dressing. He has a lot of <\/span>good friends including the van gari driver who brings him to work each day. After work he is <\/span>often found in the tea shop chatting with his friends. <\/span>Yeaqub is 36 years old, and he works together with us. His movements and his gardening <\/span>skills increased gradually over the years. The provided training, occupational and <\/span>physiotherapy and regular physical work strengthened his weakened arms and legs and, <\/span>according to his mother, he is less withdrawn and has increased his mobility. <\/span>He even created his own little business of buying and selling corn. He dreams of having his <\/span>own little shop one day. He uses a mobile phone and is well respected within his community.<\/span><\/p>\n

Die Familien werden bei der Umsetzung der Therapiezielen miteinbezogen und gemeinsam schaffen wir bessere Bedingungen, die im t\u00e4glichen Leben einen gro\u00dfen Unterschied machen. Die F\u00e4higkeiten, die Yeacub durch seine Arbeit gelernt hat, sind sehr wertvoll f\u00fcr seine weitere Entwicklung. Heute ist er ein selbstbewusster junger Mann und nimmt am \u00f6ffentlichen Leben rege teil. help to understand their child\u2019s condition.
